How to delete Screen Time history, and what deleting really does
Maybe the charts embarrass you, maybe you share the phone, maybe you just want a clean slate. Whatever the reason, iOS has no delete button for a single day or week of Screen Time; it offers exactly one eraser, and it is total. Here is how it works, what it doesn't touch, and the part nobody mentions: the history was going to delete itself anyway.
The one real delete#
Open Settings → Screen Time, scroll to the bottom, and tap Turn Off App & Website Activity. That switch does two things at once: it stops measuring, and it erases the stored history on the spot. Turn it back on later and you start from zero. There is no built-in way to delete one embarrassing day, one app's trail, or one week; the toggle is all or nothing, and its wipe is permanent, no backup or support case brings the data back.
What deleting doesn't touch#
The toggle erases the phone's own report. It does not reach records that live elsewhere: screenshots you took, exports you made, or apps that imported your days into their own storage while the data existed. If your devices were merged via Share Across Devices, activity contributed to the combined view has its own lifecycle on your other devices. And if you are a child in a Family Sharing group, the parent-side controls and settings are managed from the organizer's device, not by this switch.
The eraser that runs on its own#
Here is the part that reframes the whole question: iOS deletes your Screen Time history continuously, without being asked. The record is a rolling window of roughly four weeks; every new day pushes the oldest one off the edge, permanently. If your goal is privacy from your future self, patience does it in a month. The toggle only matters when you need the last four weeks gone right now.
Worth deciding before you wipe#
A wipe is honest about the past but blinds you going forward: with measuring off, there is no number, no trend, and nothing to compare when you turn it back on. If the real goal is a fresh start rather than no data at all, consider the gentler version, leave measuring on and just draw the line: export what exists if any of it is worth keeping, then let the window flush the rest on schedule. Deleting the evidence and changing the habit are different projects, and only one of them fits in a toggle.
Câu trả lời ngắn#
How do I delete my Screen Time history?
Settings, Screen Time, then Turn Off App & Website Activity at the bottom. Turning the feature off erases the stored history immediately and stops measuring. There is no option to delete a single day, app, or week.
Does turning off Screen Time delete the history?
Yes. Disabling App & Website Activity wipes the recorded history on that device, permanently. Re-enabling it later starts the record from zero; nothing restores the erased weeks.
Can I delete Screen Time for just one app?
No. iOS offers no per-app or per-day deletion; the only built-in erase is the full wipe via turning the feature off. The alternative is waiting, since the rolling window deletes everything older than about four weeks by itself.
Does the wipe remove my data everywhere?
It erases this device's report. Copies that exist elsewhere, like screenshots, exports, an app's own imported record, or activity on other merged devices, are not touched by the toggle.
One switch erases the past; no switch protects it. Whichever direction you care about, it helps to be the one holding the record.
